Bedlam in Plateau, the hills weep red, Their veins bursting open from head And the dust carries the taste of iron. The sheeps are shredded by the lion. Jos is bleeding, not by chance, but by the unfit. It bleeds by the hands of those who vowed to protect it. Government remains silent from it lofty heights, Counting shadows instead of lives, Crafting speeches instead of delivering justice. They erect palaces on our bones, Feasting while the masses withers & groans, They promise a better tomorrow while today is ablaze, Leaving the state of Jos in a haze. Our only crime is being Nigerians, Trusting a state that betrays its own children, carrying a dictate that shields the powerful But leaves the powerless behind, fearful. Jos is bleeding — And Abuja turns a blind eye to the mass song, Its eyes blind to the graves of the young. Its ears deaf to the wails of widows, Fuels increase sky high like their worthless egos. The rulers gauge their wealth in oil, But never in tears or in the blood of this soil Never in the silence of a city's toil. Jos is bleeding, And the government bears the guilt. Their negligence, a weapon on which massacre is built Their corruption a siege and a curse, Their indifference the fire that engulfs us. Jos is bleeding, And until justice finds its voice & abound, Nigeria itself will remain a wound. VICK MANUEL POETRY {VMP} Copyright ©?2nd April 2026.
