Cipher of the Self
In life’s long labyrinth, I walk unnamed a riddle to others, an echo to self; for how shall they read me when I am still learning my own language? I move by the whisper of inward winds, intuition; my unseen compass, a quiet oracle breathing through the chambers of my mind. Blame them not, their eyes seek mirrors, not mysteries. And I? I am mist, felt, not held. For when a man is fully known, he stands naked at the edge of ruin; understanding becomes a blade, and closeness; an elegant betrayal. So I speak in silences, and act in shadows; a lone architect of unseen blueprints, building without applause. Secrets are seeds: bury them deep. For lips are doors, and doors invite storms. Even love must earn its light. Did not Samson whisper strength into the ears of Delilah; and wake to find himself shorn of glory, a lion turned lamb? So veil your fire. Guard the altar of your being. Cover your food to eat; eat your food to cover; let wisdom be both shield and bread. Be neither sun nor storm to all; for excess burns, and absence chills. Walk your path; do your best, for the world is a restless crowd no single soul can satisfy. Thus, I remain a quiet enigma, breathing between knowing and unknowing, becoming, yet never fully known.
