Why should I feel this way, On and on, day after day? Why can’t she see what I can give? Sometimes I just don’t want to live!” Through the glass I could clearly see Her misery hated company Hiding cloistered in her room Suffocating on her gloom Then, wiping blood that fell from grace A plastered a smile on her face She shook her pain off in a hurry So no one she knows has to worry She kept on falling faster, faster Into a dark she couldn’t master Until she hit a sudden stop That made her bright red bubble pop Then I saw them all around her Glowing, smiling, hands out for her They didn’t ask, nor press or bother But gently nudged and quietly offered For a solid shoulder Or a pair of arms to hold her With simple company, laughter and peace I saw her smile and glow increase Then one day all the mirrors broke And she disappeared in a puff of smoke I was left there in her place A person who can walk in grace Free of the weight that she once bore That sent darkness dripping on the floor Now we walk smiling side by side Taking hardships in our stride No more will we bleed or cry My happy, real reflection and I
