Liquid Courage
The amber liquid swirls in its glass As I remember the events of the past There are so many twists and turns I really have so much to learn And just when I think I know what I want The amber liquid has run out So bartender fill er up again Keep em coming til I say when I feel so bad today He up and went away And now this is my only friend On who I must depend It listens to me and never speaks It allows me to feel strong Even when I am weak It gives me the courage to move on Even if I am wrong It's always there waiting in the glass To help me forget the mistakes of the past The future does get bright The more I drink throughout the night So keep my glass filled to the brim And just maybe I'll forget about him It's late now, the amber liquid is gone But I feel free and strong I stagger home to make my bed Having obliverated him from my head I smile and turn off the light Feeling better about the night But in the early morning dawn My head is throbbing and I know I was wrong As once again I realize he is gone The liquid kept the pain at bay But rushing back it came In the cold light of day
