Past Lost But Not Forgotten
I had a friend once, As cute as could be. I had a friend once, Who fell in love with me. We laughed and played for days on end. The news made me sway, As our love started to shred. He was leaving for good. My heart felt so lost. He bought me a gift, And said all was well, Our love was for naught. Kissing my cheek, he turned and left. Tears filled my eyes, Then suddenly stopped. Reading the card, I couldn't help but smile. Above his name read, "There's no good-byes if one plans to return." I wait for the day I can see his face, So I can finally say goodbye, And welcome an old friend home. -This poem is dedicated to Matthew Holstein, the first man I felt so strongly about and first experienced heart break with. I haven't seen him again since the day he walked away from me. I've fully moved on from that pain but I sometimes find myself wondering what he's up to these days, five years later.
