We smile thinking of all those moments…moments we’ve yet to make Like Deborah taking Violet shopping for girly clothes, cooking together… and all the cookies they will bake. Imagining all those memories with her we are going to create. those nights we’ll babysit…which we already know from experience are going to be great… All those holidays, family get-togethers, dinners, game nights with with our new little baby girl… All those precious moments in the wings waiting to unfurl. My mind quickly stirred up memories of when our children and grandchildren were small… a varied and exciting mix… of making pancakes in different shapes and sizes… of all my dad jokes and magic tricks. You see… It’s been a long time since I have been adorning colorful pancakes in shapes and sizes for a child on a Saturday morning. And my dad jokes and magic tricks which were great when they were new…. have lost a little of their luster as our those children grew…and grew…and grew So I’m looking forward to dusting off my old dad jokes and prestidigitations and introducing them to Violet…and a whole new generation. Yes, as wonderful as I know all our new experiences with Violet will be… I can’t wait for those moments when she looks at me…transfixed as I make pancakes for her on a Saturday morning and regale her with my tried and tested dad jokes and some awesome magic tricks.
