The Same Thread
I watch as she rests beneath your tender palm, Head beside your wounded heart. Oxygen-deprived time. Her words will forever last. Your voice as gentle as ice, her words as harsh as time. You stayed too long it became a scar, It almost tore you apart. You have darkness in your eyes. You have been so sleep-deprived. Yet there is this calmness I never fail to find. You're too kind. And it's forever in my mind. And the same blood rushes up my face too— When I love too much and fail to argue. Will this fate find me too? Will I look in the mirror and forever see you? Is this my truth? You don't say anything yet I hear it in your breath—The shaky sigh and quiet sob — Her sickness is morphing into your death. You're trying to rest, with your shoulders so tense. And I lower my voice, making my words careful and gentle But I end up making no sense. Because I stutter when I speak. Distance is the archer and I've always been the prey, I never stayed long enough to know exactly what to say. And it's her birthday today. "Where is everyone?" is all she got to say. The loneliness in the room reflects the emptiness in her eyes. She spends her days laying in one place, With constant heavy sighs. She's running out of her own thoughts, Lost in sleep and empty walls. And there is something close to nothing that I can't spot. We're all tied to the same thread. Something they call loneliness. And I'm so worried and I want to tell. But it'll take me a few more hollow dusks To finally make any sense. I'll run out of time, I guess.
