Have you lived? what have you got to show for it except that you haven't died yet?
Have you lived? what have you got to show for it except that you haven't died yet? stocks and bonds, and houses and servants – pfui! living ash! heart and arteries and a steady hand – is that all of your phantom life? have you lived only to live like a corpse that breathes in agony? Were you afraid to die living or to live dying every single day? what have you gathered in your pockets full of void and empty fulfillment? stocks of existence and bonds of security that bind you to the fear of being, houses where you don't dwell and servants who serve you death on a halo platter. I would rather sing a wild song and break my heart with it violently, than live a thousand years watching my digestion like a sterile religion, and fearing dampness like life, rain like tears of regret, life like an incurable disease that must be avoided until senile death. What have you built with your numerous and useless years like a collection of dead seconds? a heart that beats regularly without passion, arteries clean of hot blood, a steady hand that never trembles with ecstasy or shock or fate, a body maintained perfectly like a machine that never rode into the wind? I want to burn like a candle melting its own wax in flames, to sing so loud that my vocal cords explode into sonic petals, to live one moment so intensely that it contains an eternity in sparks, rather than survive an eternity fearing I will die too soon. Show me the evidence of your life: signed papers, contracts of false security, walls built between you and death, servants who postpone your meeting with yourself? I show you my heart broken from too much concentrated and intense life, I prefer to break it singing than to keep it intact in a coffin of routines. Were you afraid to die? I'm afraid not to live before I die! were you afraid of dampness? I fear the dryness of a life without rain! I would rather drown in the ocean than die of thirst beside waters in deserts, to sing a wild song that breaks my heart than the silence of a sheep's life.
