Enter Poem or Quote (Required)Required Let them eat cake But with no hands And a mouth sewn shut Why us Why must we suffer with crumbs And be grateful To be grateful when slavery ended When in fact it was they who started it To feed us poison instead of the antidote Then feign confusion to why it didn't work The world sees you as a victim And not a perpetrator The world sees us as dramatic Then expect gratitude To thank them for freedom Whilst simultaneously locking us in a cell But hey at least we'll get to see sunlight For an hour That is until they put us back in solitary confinement Trapped in the freedom of darkness No chains nor shackles Dont worry they are removed once you're contained in a box of isolation What's worse a real life cell Or the prison of the mind Either way there is no where to hide From the voices trapped inside To be grateful for the bare minimum Even though there wasn't a bar Or Maybe only visible to those who don't need to need it Or Maybe they'll gaslight us into believing That we should just accept the 'bare minimum' So we should be grateful To them for solving a problem That they created Then act like white saviours And expect to be patted on the shoulder for their 'heroic behaviour' The gift they have given us is The gift of generational trauma And a lifetime of constantly feel unworthy For a life we continously have to fight for But that's just it They want us to struggle They want us to fight But most of all they want us to slowly kill ourselves Because at least that way there is no blood on their hands
