UNDER THIS DREARY SKY
I walk beside my pain, Beside you, beside myself again. I talk to walls when the world goes mute, And stack the days like regrets in dispute. I bottle up the passing hours, Sleepless nights and faded powers. Memories hold my hand too tight, Like loyal dogs with a twisted bite. No more room for empty vows, Just silence drowning in its howls. A heart that beats but not quite right, And your absence filling all my nights. I hoard blurred moments, Laughter cracked in broken segments. I write letters I never send, Words lost where the past won't bend. I line my wall with "maybes" frail, Like wallpaper made of wounded tales. I've walked through what we're told to trust, But not yet through the depths of us. No more space for shining lies, No more patience for sinking skies. I stand upright like a dare, To all that stripped me bare. And if there’s something left in me, It’s not love, nor fire set free. Still I move, though halfway torn, With tears alone to keep me warm. And if I fall, it’s no surprise, I’ve grown used to wreckage and lies. No more room for last goodbyes, Just quiet roads and empty skies. And in my eyes, no light remains, Only a grey sky that hides its pain.
