Masked
Masked … The rain pelts down On this soft and gentle day But inside my head, I wonder If you will always stay. Because that’s what you said Before you slammed the door On our hopes and our dreams; We could be so much more. Than just a pair of friends, Together watching This world’s horrid end. But our life is not over And we still have some love Leftover. As with each page’s tear My mind starts to wear Down each and every final Situation. And so I drown Those tears away, My broken heart- Forever here to stay, Swallowed up by each down Of my hollow medication. But it’s nothing like mine Which will always get worse Each and every time. And instead of numbing Each and every crossword, I knew that you’d come running, The single second that you heard. But my cries and my tears Are not for you to hear. For I am still lost On what you want us to be. I thought it was forever- That night that we crossed Our full names together On that rainy lake’s broken tree. So I wonder if you’ll ever Drop that stupid blank mask Or if it’s just for me to see- As an actor, you bask In all the fame and all the glory, As I one day tell our story. Oh, it certainly is A monumental task. But I’ll write ‘till I cry ‘Till the words make me die. And just you wait and see. My story reverbs through our minds. And one day, through our galaxy. And if you ever doubt your power Of your damn blank mask- In every waking, horrid hour. Well just sit back and think. My hands are drenched in my pen’s poisoned ink. And you didn’t even have to ask.
