Where Light Once Lived
Where are you? I search but can’t find, Lost in the shadows, lost in my mind. How do I trace my way back to you? When the truth cuts deep and feels so true. In distant silent night, Shadowed memories haunt my mind. This house we built feels so cold, A home now lost, empty and old. Crushed by choices, burned by lies, Trapped beneath your cold disguise. Chained to the past, lost in the haze, Blinded by fear in a darkened maze. Downing in doubt, I reach for the light, seeking a path to end this fight. You were my light through shadowed days, A love so deep in countless ways. Regret fills every breath I take, For all the promises I dared to break. I see you in my dreams each night, Wishing I could make it right. If I could, I’d hold you and make this right, To fight these demons haunting my night. In your eyes, I search the past, A time when love was meant to last. Yet overwhelmed by words untold, Our warmth has turned in something cold. Our words once soft, now sharp as knives, A love that’s dying, yet somehow survives. 4/29/25
