Return and be still
Easier now to get through the day you know, when it's quiet and.. you hear a voice in dream.. a bright star in the morning. The way we were taught to share in life's embarrassing bond- waiting so long to finally know what it meant to grow up. Wish I never asked, and that you never scolded me. Told me to let you go, and put you out in the cold. 'Specially hard now in remembering how much I counted on you.., to be even giving your last dime, with nothing to prove. Just wish I'd known, how little left you had to lose. Everyone deserves to be loved.., loved and forgiven for the mess they left. Granted a takeback now and then s'what I wish for time and again. Just to hear a familiar voice, the talks we had, of life and love and loss. Wish you could've told me about your hardest days. Been so many years, maybe y'know how much I've missed you, your kind advice. Funny things you'd say to make me laugh carry all my troubles, though oh so simple now. Seems they'll never come again, those sweet naive tears of youth no longer need to hide. This twenty-fifth note to you, to the stars that failed to align, more than any deserve, forgiveness I love you always brother.. return and be still.
