redemption of spirit
Spinning gossamer webs of silenced eternity/ screaming in hushed voices at madmen/ I await my fate like a lamb led to slaughter, like a comet named Halley/ like yesterday when ruins were new and the gods all young/ and spring was just another season I'm at the pinnacle but I don't know which way to turn or if up is down or the other way round but answers are closing in like serpents in the night and they might bring light or something equally bright/ And I post empty words on a blank page and search for the coming dawn/ What words of my fate do strangers bring? Can I not just hold up on a star awaiting my judgement or canst I just plead my case before the ancient gods/ Of what merit is my being just blood and sinew and soul for a mark to be made in infinity's grasp/ And my nerves play like fire in the dawn again to be drawn and quartered by the locals. And all I have are words, is the pen really mightier than the sword or is silence sometimes louder than a scream. I lay my soul and heart at your feet for my destiny truly is in your hands/ And how the gods laugh at our petty dreams, forgetting that once we were the gods and had our own destiny. Twenty-four hours from now strangers will divide up my bones as I seek redemption of spirit. Until then I can only weep
