Enter Poem or Quote (Required)Required From dawn until dusk, he worked hard each day, Delivering cement, no matter the pay. In sturdy work boots, he’d march with pride, For Coca-Cola, he traveled far and wide. We'd choose the turns, he'd take the wheel, Along the winding roads, with confidence we'd feel. We tried to lose him on the paths unknown, But he always knew which way was home. He’d be on the river at the break of day, Casting his line in the current's sway. Patient and calm, he knew the game— Catching fish through the wind and rain. Into the woods, he moved at a hunters pace, Tracking the deer to a secret place. A 22 shotgun held firm and low, He knew never to shoot the doe. His clubs in hand, he’d face the course, With every swing, a calm, sure force. For him, it wasn’t about the score, He loved the game and nothing more. The cards were dealt, never marking with fives He played with a smile and a gambler’s eye. Calling his tricks with a fearless flair, A euchre champ in a worn-out chair. In a smoky bar, when the day was through, He aimed for the board like the sharpshooters do. Flights spin true, through the air, they'd glide, He'd sink his dart into the bullseye dry. But more than what his hands had done, He was laughter, warmth, and so much fun. With Donald Duck’s voice, he’d make us smile, Even if just for a little while. The final hole, the last cast made, His game is over but his memory stays. I know he is gone, beyond our sight, But his spirit shines, our guiding light. In the summer breeze we will feel his love, We'll see him in the stars above. Though he's not here, he'll always be, In every heart, in you, in me.
