Of the trials, temptations and the meanness of men, just to bring them salvation and grace They had only a stall in a stable to spare, for there was no more room in the Inn, So our precious baby Jesus was born in the straw, for our King, what a way to begin On a night like no other, it was dark, but bright light, from a star in the sky shown down on the place in the straw where the baby was lain, as if lighting the way to be found. And the animals drew close to protect and give warmth to this baby so helpless and small, as if they knew He was special, He was born for great things, and someday would save us all And although they were sad, the Angels, they sang, Glory to God in the Highest. For they knew who He was, who He was born to be, then that night became still and silent. And the angles they spoke to the shepherd’s near by and told them to not be afraid, for we bring you good tidings and Wonderful News, the shepherds fell on their knees and prayed. Then they followed that star to the stable, where the angel had said he would be. When they looked on this baby, they bowed down in awe, for they knew they were seeing their King Then the wisemen they came from far distant lands and they carried their gifts of great worth. And they bowed down and worshiped this tiny King, whom they’d awaited so long for his birth Yes He came as a babe in a manger, walked this earth as a teacher and friend, gave sight to the blind healed the sick and the lame, gave hope to the hopeless and then.... As the angels stood ready to come to His aid, one word and they’d rescue this King. He died on a Hill on a Cross all alone, Love, life and mercy to bring. And that gift that He brought on that night long ago as He laid in that manger of hay, is still offered to all just as it was then, won’t you call on His name today Yes wise men still seek Him and Angels still sing. And all of creation points the way to our King
