I knew I would find it somewhere
~ I drifted past the sunset where horizons make their place Imaginary lineage that artists love to trace I saw the world illumined in a shade of tangerine Beyond the treelined silhouette and shadows in between I scaled a distant mountain that was massive in its size Where I could taste the altitude amidst blueberry skies When then I saw a sparrow as it flitted on the wing And followed it, just listening in hopes that it would sing It took me down a pathway, round the bend and every turn Then rested in an olive tree beside a river fern I bid farewell and strolled along, directions heading west For this I hoped would lead me too my early morning quest A squirrel danced above me in the branches of the trees, A firefly then floated by, like surfing on the breeze I watched in endless wonder as the world about me turned Took little notes in scribbled thoughts of all that I had learned When up ahead I see a spark, a tiny orb of gold As half a day had come and gone, if every truth be told It seems I've found my treasure, there it sits before my eyes The one thing I've been searching for, a beautiful sunrise Good morning, Soupers
