Yes, we changed, for we gave too much and received nothing in return
Yes, we changed, for we gave too much and received nothing in return, Seeking to comfort others, yet no one asked if we were okay, We stayed up late to console souls but cried ourselves to sleep alone, We changed when we realized that effort is not love, and people take as much as we give. Friendships fade when we are no longer useful, relationships are just convenient, We changed when we got tired of apologizing for being too much or too little, Tired of sending the first message, making excuses for those who have no time for us, We changed when we learned that silence speaks more than words, That distance reveals who truly cares, not the love that feels like begging, That people don't lose us—they let us go, and we began to choose ourselves, We stopped trying to fix what was breaking us, our peace was worth more, We changed because we had to, the weight of expectations was too heavy to bear. No one ever asked what we needed, tired of being strong for everyone else, Yes, we changed, not because we wanted to, but because we realized, We were never meant to stay the same, for souls grow and change, Deep down, we understood that change is a song of survival.
