No Cents or Nickels
One "cent" is one-hundredth of a dollar. It is often mistaken for its British counterpart, the penny. They are worth so little these days. Now, a suggestion has been presented: The United States Mint should cease their production. They say it costs two cents to make just one cent. I also heard the five cent "nickel" is not far behind. The price of a "nickel" is about fourteen cents. Abraham Lincoln's profile is on each "cent". Thomas Jefferson's is found on all "nickels". We won't see them anymore when minting is stopped. Besides, when merchandise is priced at ninety-nine cents, and someone pays with a dollar bill, how is the store going to give the customer change? From a news story heard on CBS radio.
