You stick to me like stubborn glue, One day you're mild, the next you're cruel. You tease and toy, you come, you go, A twisted lover, putting on a show. A fever chills my weary frame, You haunt me like a phantom flame. Your love cough comes to steal my air, Then leaves me heaving, gasping there. Sore throat, a punch I can’t ignore, Like I’ve been throttled at my core. My nose confused, it runs, it sticks, A leaky faucet playing tricks. These aching bones cry for release, Each joint begs loudly for some peace. My headache pounds—with endless might, Even my eyelids shun the light. Oh, flu, you leave me so betrayed, Fatigue wraps around me like a snake. I want my mommy, I want my bed, As nausea spins my pounding head. Vomiting, diarrhea—what a pair, You drag me down without a care. So hear my plea, you viral pest, Leave me to heal, grant me some rest. To all who pass, I make this plea: Wash your hands and stay germ-free. Cover coughs, and don't come near, Your virus gifts are not welcome here!
