Esther
(when Esther went to ask the King without him inviting her) – Esther 5:2 And it was so, when the king saw Esther the queen standing in the court, that she obtained favour in his sight: and the king held out to Esther the golden sceptre that was in his hand. So Esther drew near, and touched the top of the sceptre. Her heart thumped, thundering inside While she tried to snub her fear – would it ever subside? Her fears were like liquid fire, stirring dread It could be mere moments before she’d be dead She picked up her thoughts and whispered a prayer Releasing her anxiety to God who wouldn’t let her despair Her life hung in the balance as she walked into the room Where her husband could easily tell her she shouldn’t presume Her life was merely a vapor and it might be snuffed out Because she’d taken the chance, proving she was devout Her king sat on his throne, but would he offer his favor? Only the Lord knew, but for Esther it could be a life saver Oh, amazingly, God was with her and the king lifted his sceptre Showing her that he surely loved her and he’d kindly accept her Time was on her side and her courage would save this race The children of Isreal, God’s people, thanks to heaven’s grace Esther showed us that, sometimes, bravery is in God’s plan She gave no thought to her own life, and that’s where hope began Because she was a great warrior who lived her life for the Lord There is no doubt that, through her, He was praised and adored Never forget to listen to the still, small voice in your soul The One who loves to tell you just how you can be made whole Listen with a heart that is believing and willing to change With the faith that can move mountains, His counsel isn’t that strange Her heart thumped, thundering inside While she tried to snub her fear – would it ever subside? Her fears were like liquid fire, stirring dread It could be mere moments before she’d be dead
