Her days at home gradually became miserable, Her emotions toppled and became unstable, All she could see were dark moments, She evolved into a portrait of gloom, Sadness pervaded her room. It was a morning in summer that she left home, Her parents were surprised to see her leave, She had worn her heart on her sleeve, But they were not looking her way, They were not seeing the light ahead. Gradually she bloomed and became prominent, It wasn’t an easy journey, But she was resolute and tenacious, Soon success shone its light on her, Hope was no longer a distant blur. One day in autumn she got a call, The number wasn’t a familiar one but the voice was, The man’s voice trembled as he spoke, He asked her to forgive him for not believing in her, And for all the trouble he had caused her, She was silent for a moment, She had erased him from her pages, It happened as she climbed up life’s stages, Tears streamed down her eyes, She could imagine him on his knees asking her to forgive him, She remembered the hymn she sang in church a fortnight ago, With an emotion-filled voice, She told him she had forgiven him, He thanked her with a teary voice. Her mother also thanked her. Two weeks later, she got a call, It was her mother this time around, She told her that her father had eased into the night, It happened in the evening light. Tears streamed down her eyes. January 7, 2024.
