A Cup of Tea
I kept thinking what life would be like if someone invited me out for a cup of tea in the middle of the night, I kept thinking what life would be like if morning was evening and evening was night, and the stars lit up the skies. I would gaze at the colorful lights across the horizon and make a new year’s wish, then I will sing a special song for you, to the rhythm of the night and make your dreams come true. the hills and the valleys will come alive and chime in with the chorus and nature will make a statement in broad day light, those that see it will ponder over it and those that listen to it will fear it. Winter is barking on my knees and I would like a cup of tea, The temperature has fallen to minus zero degrees and my hands and feet are frozen, my lips are dry and there is not a solid tears left in the eyes. The skies have turned gray and all the idlers have gone away, while the faithful few kneel down in the sanctuary to pray with blood dripping from the cross and the devil barking at them like hungry dogs. A new sound enters the town and all the people have gathered around with curious faces and suspicious eyes, they listen intensely to the strangers cries, they weren’t’ religious or self-conscious, they were looking for a place to stay for three day but they had nothing to give away and before any questions was asked, they got what they wanted and the crowd disbursed. I kept thinking what life would be like if my friends would journey across the ocean tonight and take me out for a cup of tea, we would visit the old opera tea house where visions comes alive and talents burst in the skies and you can listen to voice next door bellowing from the stage and the evening embraces the night under the dangling streetlamps next to the light post. The traffic is busy around the town and everyone is dressed in their spectacular gowns, there is excitement all over the town, New year’s celebrations rehearsals are in full swing and the mass choir is singing a powerful hymn. The ambassador’s ball resonates from the country club hall and luxury vehicles from home and abroad is showing up from everywhere, there is something for everyone but all I want is a cup of tea to warm my body and satisfy my curiosity.
