Blue Days
It would be nice to have a yellow day. Sun in the sky and maybe time to play. Warm heart to match the warmth that’s in the air. No need to worry ‘bout how life’s unfair. A yellow day would surely ease the mind. With every worldly trouble left behind. But days like that come rarely into view… It’s obvious most days are really blue. I think that I would like a day that’s green. Some gentle breezes would be peachy keen. And I could lay back on the grassy lawn, All tribulations fading out and gone. But now-a-days the green seems all too rare And I’ve no energy or time to spare. I’ve got to do all that I have to do So, I am left with days that are quite blue. And I could grow to like a day that’s red That makes it easy getting out of bed. An up-and-at-‘em day, raring to go. Gets your heart a-pumping, your blood to flow. Just think of all the stuff we could get done! The challenges and races to be won! But far between are days like that, and few. We live our normal lives in days of blue. I guess it’s better than a day of gray, With stormy clouds that will not go away, That makes you want to cover up your head, Or, better yet, not even leave your bed. And even worse, those days that come in black That makes you think the sun’s not coming back. Now that I’ve thought on this, I guess it’s true: I should appreciate days that are blue…
