Blood Red Sky
There was movement on All Hallows’ Eve, with stirrings all around, The moon was full in the blood red sky dark shadows came and went, just who was lurking by? I don't know why I went so far from home that awful night, Instead, I faced the ghosts and ghouls, and witches seeking candy from the kids. I wondered if I'd make it home before the dead returned, Would zombies stop me in my tracks? I wished I had a mask to wear to fool them as I passed. Felt shivers up and down my spine then saw the ugly crowd, Who all had gathered in the square, I could see their lifeless eyes and rotting skin. What was that noise? My ears pricked up I heard a cackle low: ‘She's over there, so block her path don't let her get away, we’ll catch this one tonight’ Quick! Run you fool, you know the way don't let them catch you up! The moon was up to light my path, I turned and ran like mad; my heart was pounding fast. I saw the witches zooming fast on broomsticks made of wood, Zigzagging in and out the trees as black cats ran around, and ghost were floating by. I made it home but at the door I fumbled with the lock, Before it turned, I felt a hand my knees went weak, his voice then chilled me to the bone. ‘Ha ha, you fool, I've got you now tonight, you join our world! Like us, a zombie you will be’ I saw his grey decaying face, then let out a scream, On waking up I realized I’d had an awful dream, ‘Twas then I heard a rapping sound and giggling at my door, on opening it I saw. Some zombies, ghosts, and ugly ghouls, three witches who looked mean, these kids all grinning up at me. I rushed inside to find my jar, with lollies and some treats. But when they left, I shut the door made sure to turn the key Just in case, I really was not scared, ‘Cause if you see a blood red sky, it will be Halloween.
