Enter Poem or Quote (Required)Required The Great Mistake I made was telling you All that went through my head, however true, And thinking not of consequences then. Now look! With words I have destroyed my friend. I thought the words I spoke would be kept safe. Looking back, I see my Great Mistake. Greater than the need to be someone Is my desire for all this to be done. Every word I speak or song I sing Would I give up. I’d give up anything To take back what I said that desert night, To undo all I’ve done and make it right. It would be better had we never met - I’ve only brought you grief and sad regret. You could do without a friend like me, For I have behaved so selfishly. It’s not your fault you didn’t know the way You made my heart beat, or my mind dream all day. The Great Mistake was being cavalier And telling those who didn’t need to hear. Back where I started now, alone and lost, I realize how much my actions cost. My selfish heart, though, still wants more and more; My lonely heart will seek one to adore. Since I’m not allowed to tell you so, I hope someday you read this. Then you’ll know How sorry I am for the things I said. I didn’t know the truth would cost a friend. Please forgive me for my Great Mistake, And pray for me that my heart cease to ache In sadness and remorse for my wrong choice. To take it back, I’d gladly give my voice.
