Forgiveness
I Was The One: Free Verse mother had been sick for years, years her body ravaged in time but oh what a strength, dignity and courage she fought to live her life her laughter was music to the soul then- a fall at home the doctors said she will not survive the surgery and I was lost in a sea of memories of us mother, I pray for your 'forgiveness' as it was me, I had to let you go . . . and it never leaves me it was me who made that decision to set you free to turn off life support I was the one. . . there was nothing I could do to change your fate for I would have done anything even given my own life my heart was stabbed with a blood-soaked knife that has left deep scars on my soul and with each breath the machine took I kept praying for a miracle . . . the memories of that day still twirl and swirl I prayed_ Lord why, why this woman she is so kind and gentle and loved can you 'forgive' me mother for letting you go . . . the life support was turned off and in the silence of that room, you sighed once leaving forever mom, my love always . . . Forgiveness: Haibun Mother had been sick for years, years. Her body ravaged in time. But, oh what a strength, dignity and courage. She fought to live. Her life, her laughter was music to the soul. Then- a fall at home, the doctor she will not survive the surgery. And I was lost in a sea of memories of us. Mother, I pray for your 'forgiveness.' As it was me, I had to let you go and it never leaves me. It was me who made that decision to set you free, to turn off life support. I was the one . . . there was nothing I could do to change your fate for I would have done anything, even given my own life. My heart was stabbed with a- blood soaked knife that has left deep scars on my soul. And with each breath the machine took I kept praying for a miracle . . . the memories of that day still twirl and swirl. I prayed_ Lord why, why this woman she is so kind and gentle and loved. Can you 'forgive' me mother for letting you go. The life support was turned off and in the . . . silence of that room you sighed leaving forever ... mom, my love always
