Four Corners of Life
I dreamt I saw an angel just outside my window pane; I could see her glowing face through the lightly falling rain. I jumped up from my warm bed and broke free from my dream, But when I looked out again she was nowhere to be seen. I've looked down a gravel road which was covered by fresh snow, I'm sure it called out to me but I had no plans to go. Sometimes at night I'll look back, just every now and then, To see the roads not travelled and I'll wonder what might have been. Loves had come and loves had gone quickly through one's youth it seemed, Many now are but shadows of those on whom I leaned. When young the burdens seems hard while one's lost and torn apart And like so many others, I've lived through a broken heart. Yet, age brings us something else and so oft' we're unaware, There's so many little things for which we don't need to care. Memories will come and go and at times unannounced, In the end what's in our hearts is the only thing that counts.
