My Love
18 years are spit out of my mouth to you As I roll my tongue to sooth your ears with my soul And sing that sweet sound of music called Poetry Boy does it soothe me. Spending these last couple of years trying to find myself In these prison walls of knowledge and confusion and I still find my self-staring at the legs of her sweet body I ask her name and she kindly replies Poetry. Boy does it soothe me. The boy that sits in the corner with his head down Ashamed by societies hateful words and he clenches onto his jacket Because the pain that you’ve spoken to him is murder to his thoughts Now who should be punished for his Poetry? Boy does it soothe me. His death caught her off guard as she falls back on the chair And the tissue she holds as a security blanket to fight back her fear of loneliness, can only absorb her thought to stay alive. She gasps for air because the feeling of her heart bursting is ticking in her mind. Now that’s Poetry. Boy does it soothe me. Stiff in your seats the tiny hairs stand on the back of Your neck and you are Faced with reality. But as I raise my voice and throw in a couple of metaphors here and there The earth still rotates my mind on yours and you Are sucked into my poetry. Why? Because it’s Poetry Like that dove you saw fly outside and wrote your name in the sky Like the time when the sun shined so bright And your smile was bigger then heaven. Like that one word that means everything and you just don’t know why. Poetry The way I get your attention with the sound of my voice and you stare in my eyes. Now that’s poetry. Boy does it soothe me.
