Ballade of Battlefronts of Mahabharata
Where are now battle-braves essayed, Where did tears of joy, of pain go? Where, the rare braveries portrayed, Where did the blood that was shed flow? Duryodhan’s wrath wrapped up in woe, Dhritarashtra’s nerves, anger, gall, As battles did rage to and fro, Time consumed all oh once for all. Where’s gut and gumption, fresh and frayed, Plumes and armours of friend and foe, The shells and shields, golden brocade, And breastplates taking all the blow, Pomp and pride, splendour on the show, Yells of duels won big and small, Youth burning bright, with charm and glow, Time consumed all oh once for all. Comes eve when curtain falls, grows dread, The wounded treated are, peaks brow, And when words for welfare are said, Hard to say who’s tall, who’s at toe, No more revelers high and low, Clash of swords nor there’s festival, Yet, plans are laid for the morrow, That time would consume once for all. Envoi Krishna’s care, Arjun’s worried brow, Tumble of heroes with their thrall, When dust down settles, we well know, Time consumes it all once for all. ______________________________________ Ballade |09.04.2024|war, time
