A Taste of Sweet Temptation
Red is the flavor of passion and desire The taste of a kiss that sets your soul on fire Red is the spice that tingles your tongue Heat that warms you when the night is young Red is the sweetness of a ripe strawberry The juice that drips from your lips of cherry Red is the richness of a glass of wine The intoxication that makes you feel divine Red is the fragrance of a rose in bloom The scent filling your senses with perfume Red is the sound of a heartbeat in your ear The rhythm that syncs with your lover so dear Red is the touch of velvety skin A softness that makes you want to commit sin Red is the sight of a lover's knowing smile The beauty that makes you stay for a while Red is the color of lust and temptation An aroma that fills you with anticipation So, lock the door and savor each bite Red is for keeps, not just for the night *I wrote this poem on January 25, 2024, as part of a ’30 days of poetry’ January challenge. This was day 25 and the prompt was: Taste the Rainbow: What does your favorite color taste like? This poem says it all about my favorite color and the feelings it evokes in me.
