A Beaches Plea
I've been waiting for her by the sea, perhaps not always patiently. When she will arrive I do not know, but I've dug my feet in and have sand between my toes I feel the lighthouse looming over me, perhaps even judgingly. Saying to me, "Why are you still waiting here? She might not be here for a year!" But what the lighthouse doesn't know is the worth outweighs the wait because I have a hunger inside me that only she can sate. I think back to the last time I saw her here, her hair blowing in the wind and that smile that leaves me speechless, and does my head in. She does that though, if you let her in she'll take your breath away yet give it back again. So I continue to wait because she's my heart until my very death. Her name is synonymous with a deep breath. "Nilüfer", I can breathe again. "Nilüfer", my life is restored. Sitting here, surrounded by sand, a slave to her rolling waves. I imagine her here crashing into me at high tide then just as suddenly tides turn and again she goes away. There's no one else in the world like her. She's so in control of her emotions, where I am a sudden flood. Sadly though her small trickle of moisture, of emotion or the slight brush against my shore just always leaves me wanting more. I'm waiting! Oh bring her back with her rushing flood! For I need the pounding of her waves against my grain. I'm begging you because anything less will drive me insane. She is my all the world, come to quench me deep inside. I need her on me, in me, through me to cool the heat within me that cannot be denied. ©SamHarty
