The Screamin' Woman
Refrain: In these mountains, far from the sea, Where hearts have heard the tales, Screams a lady, she’s wild and free, Her life bears in details. Though we never named this wild lass, She answers the shadows, Where others won’t see or harass, This lady some oppose. She’s black as night, wilder than storms, Screaming in the darkness, Nothing can change her with reforms, She’s stealthy thru starkness. (Refrain) This lady is still as the moon, Ever sharing her calm, She lingers, a silhouette strewn, Like the stars, a soft psalm. Her life is filled with true wonders, She’s powerful as wind, Soothing the heart’s blackest thunders, With wishes to spellbind. (Refrain) Where the trees loose leaves in the fall, Blessings assure the soul, Forever is a grace to call, Peace, her shrill shrieks have stole. We in the mountains can’t name her, Like the woods, so serene, There is little doubt, she’ll soon purr, Because she’s home to preen. (Refrain) Mountain lion is what they say, Softly calling the dawn, Striding along, meeting the day, Small beasts, she will jump on. Some say a black panther, she is, Others say she’s a myth, She could be famous in show biz, On trial, plead the fifth. (Refrain) Don’t want to meet her in the woods, Alone, without defense, She visits other neighborhoods, Making the world so tense. Let her go back to the forests, Where she is happiest, Hear the song of old folklorists, Even the sappiest. (Refrain)
