Unfair
Dude… Why? Why do you get to sleep, But I am ever awake? Why do you get to sleep But I see every sunfall and moon break? Why do you get to sleep But I get to watch the stars singing? Why do you get to sleep But the sun has my head ringing? It’s been…who knows how long Since I’ve been able to rest. And I just think it’s unfair and wrong That I can’t have a slice of what’s best For my sanity and my eyes and my life. Instead just drenched in sweat and waiting For this anxiousness to pick up a knife And I won’t, but I’m debating. I just…find it…unfair. And sleeplessness gets hard to bear. I pace the place where I should be waking But wakeness is from me constantly taking Any ability to relax the mind or my back. I almost threw a disc from a coughing attack. That’s how tired I’ve become, it’s now just what I am. And I’m trying. But …life is unfair I guess..and I don’t think I can.
