In the shadow of the night, with the pale and silent moon
In the shadow of the night, with the pale and silent moon, I walked the streets of Ia?i, the city of forgetting. The moon, with her distorted face, watched me from above, As the carriages passed by, with passengers white like ghosts. Starved for life, for love, for meaning, I haunted the bars, seeking a drop of solace. But all I found was indifference, a deaf world, And loneliness, that constant companion that never left my side. In Copou, the carriages passed with their monotonous noise, And I, white as a specter, watched the world moving around. I was a stranger in my own city, an exile in my own life, And all I wanted was to hide, to disappear, to be lost. Ia?i, with its narrow streets and heavy air, Was the perfect place to get lost, to hide away. And in my dark little room, I had only the company of cats, Fearless creatures that reminded me of my solitude. Women avoided me, sensing something strange within, Waitresses smiled, but their smiles were false, meaningless. And in that world, where nothing seemed real, I found my comfort in cheap wine and the sound of the night. On the bed, with the light off, I listened to the outside world, And I knew that, despite the loneliness, there was a hidden joy. Not in the things we have, but in what we know, For even in the depths of despair, there is a spark of hope. And so, lost in my thoughts, in my memories, I understood that to be alone doesn't mean to be unhappy. For in solitude, in silence, in the night, Lies the truth, the essence of life, the meaning of existence.
