Battle of the Quills
Deep in the forest, where gnarly trees grow There's a kingdom called Poetry, where verses never cease to flow Anyone could challenge for the throne who had poetic skill Then would begin the battle, the battle of the quills! The king was challenged for the throne by a poet named Will The king weaved his golden quill with great skill and beat him easily, for his metaphors were weak, The king then put him in the dungeon for a week! But it was said that the queen was a witch Who stole the thoughts of other poets making them her own She won every battle without a hitch It seemed she'd always be on the throne When upon her magic mirror she would call It always said she was the best poetess of all Throughout the kingdom it was told That a girl, Cindy, who was only sixteen years old Could weave her words with metaphors untold Her poems were stellar, glittering like gold When the queen heard of this, she asked her mirror again But the mirror told her she would lose her reign The lass said she would challenge for the throne But they warned of the queen's powers, which were well known The girl's mother gave her a brooch that would repel Any of the queen's intrusive spells So the lass challenged for the throne The queen laughed, thinking the girl's muse she could clone All the people gathered round, for it was indeed a thrill To watch poets weave verses in the battle of the quills The queen tried to steal her words, but to no avail Cindy won the battle, the queen's plan had failed People began cheering and dancing all around Cindy became queen, and proudly wore the crown!!
