Deceived
Along the hallway she drops pink rose petals and stepping onto the white carpet, she pulls the ivory chemise over her head and slips between the lavender satin sheets breathlessly awaiting his arrival.. The clock ticks away each anxious moment as her dark eyes watch and wait.. then the phone rings and she hears her heart singing its familiar refrain but his words are not endearing, as he calls her Cynthia, not Cindy or honey.. He tells her he does not love her anymore and she feels her heart stop, as in the background a strange woman's voice is calling his name.. she hangs up the phone and crawls back into bed pulling the lavender sheets up over her head, and she cries alone for the man who once was hers, looking for comfort from a clock that speaks, but cannot hold her..
