Joy and Misery
Of joy and misery, the story of our life holds, A gift, and with it, comes trials, and sorrows. Twin companions, intertwined, as they roam, In every state, city, town, and in every home. Joy is often, a fleeting spark, a radiant smile, It dances with laughter, far too short the while. In the warmest embrace of happiness, we find, A few moments of solace for a troubled mind. For misery, is joy’s ghost, an unrelenting foe, It creeps in silently, and hurls a ruthless blow. With tears falling as rain, and burdens to bear, It cuts deep at the heart, an unwelcome affair. Yet, in this contrast, an obvious truth is clear, Joy and misery, together, are not at all cavalier. Midst comedy and tragedy, is a thin gray line, So, joy and misery come in pairs sometimes. But, joy is sweeter when from sorrow we rise, And through life’s pain, we reach for the skies. In this fragile balance, our souls certainly grow, Resilient and wise beneath the burdens we tow. So, let us warmly embrace both joy and misery, For in their relationship, life’s beauty we’ll see. In the flux of these emotions, we will also find, The quietness of joy and misery’s, dividing line.
