Life Lessons I Learned Too Late
Through the veiled shadow of my past, I find, Lessons unlearned, I was far too disinclined. The tart whispers of regret, a mournful song, I realize times in my life where I went wrong. In the dawn of youth’s naive and hasty stride, I followed blindly, my dreams, no fear betide. But now years of wisdom, like a silent stream, Flows unnoticed like mislaid, deferred dreams. As time unfolds its blank pages, undiscerned, The truths I missed, from life lessons, unlearn. The choices I’ve made through haste or pride, Now haunt me; deep within my soul, they hide. For lost loves that slipped thru careless hands, Or bridges I burned across life’s shifting sands, Opportunities missed, too many words unsaid, Will echo in eternity along the paths I’ve tread. But, in momentous life lessons learned too late, There might still be a chance for me to navigate, A wiser course, or perhaps a much brighter way, To carpe diem! Seize the dawning of a new day. I’ll embrace the past, with all its scars and pain, And let them be my teacher in life’s iffy terrain. For though I stumble, and often ignorantly fall, It’s only in getting up that I can again stand tall. So I’ll let life lessons unlearned though they ache, Guide my future, but not rerun the past mistakes. God has reclaimed my future with newfound grace, I’ll now live life each day, with His loving embrace.
