In my reflection, I am left to see, The toll of sadness that burdens me. I hear, The whispers of strength left behind, Echo reminders of a restless mind. Longing for what I let slip away, Lost in the faded time of yesterday. His face etched in my heart, a bittersweet pain, Unfinished conversations, like drops in the rain. In the silence of the night, stars shine bright, hopes takes flight, and I try to stop looking at this picture tonight. As I try to mend these wounds, that cut like a knife, I search for my strength and try to gain control of my life. Shadows of myself linger near, I try to forge a path free from pain and fear. I don’t want to let go, I want to hold on with all my might, With balled fists and clinched teeth I try so hard to win this fight. These hands hurt from the pressure of holding on way too long, And you can’t understand how and why things go so wrong. All I can do is watch everything fall apart, On the ground, all around, broken pieces of this breaking heart.
