Sea Watch
Whether it's the waves that are rising high at Half Moon Bay; Or low tides flowing across the soft sands of Ocean Beach; Or the ever-present sound of seagulls dancing with the winds; Or from the Cliff House watching ships sail through the Golden Gate; Or my kids and I getting splashed by high tides on a Sunday afternoon; My brain is in tune with the tides, and I hear the fog horns, but my heart is wondering about the ship that's just arriving from the Far East loaded with 'Made In China" products replacing what used to be made in America. My heart pains for the underpaid workers sweating to deliver to us 'low prices'. My heart dares to ask, "Do we care how this was made and who made it?" My heart and I stare at each other as I sit speechless, never answering my heart. Although I cannot see Pearl Harbor, I know that it's over there and my heart aches for the families of the thousands of soldiers who lost their lives there. And beyond Pearl Harbor, there lies Nagasaki and Hiroshima in Japan where the atomic bombs were dropped. Oh, as I watch the ever-changing tidal waves with my eyes, I cannot begin to describe my heart's feeling about all these heartbreaking events and so many more as I look across the Pacific. Notwithstanding, there's an ocean of irony because the sea sights are awesome and the sounds are soothing to my heart.
