Till We Meet Again
You were 14 weeks and 6 days when we got the news. The previous check-ups with the doctor went well, you measured a little small, but nothing that prayer and medicine could not fix. My heart bleeds for your mum, I mean my heart hurts like no other, but she dreamt of your soon arrival. Just the thought of you, brought joy that could not be contained. I imagined your beautiful smile, eyes, and warm embrace. So to hear them state that they could not hear or detect your heartbeat, causes mine to almost stop. I don’t blame God, because he knows all things, but more importantly, he loves me. I do question why? Is there something different that I could have done, to possibly change things, and save your life? Yeah, I know that I will see you one day in Heaven, but that seems too far away. Family and friends offer condolences, words of remorse, and sentiments of comfort, but that won’t bring you back. I love them, but I long to hold you in my arms. To someday hear you say Daddy I love you. But that will never be. I will see you someday. Till then, know that I love you, more than my words could ever express. Good bye for now, Your Dad, Author Paul Cumberbatch (July 27th 2023)
