Shadows At Midnight
In the quiet of the night That's what I dread the most Cause when the clock strikes twelve That's when I see her ghost It moves like a shadow Till it reaches my bed Then her face comes alive But her eyes are so dead The moment seems surreal Just like a lucid dream When she takes me by the hand That's when I start to scream With her fingers ice cold And her grip getting tighter Her eyes grow darker And the room grows brighter Then I see how she died On the day that she drowned The cops searched everywhere But her body never found With her vision in my head I could feel a cold shiver Saw a tree wedged her body Underneath the river All at once I couldn't breathe Like I was drowning too I was gasping for air With my skin turning blue My body frozen stiff Blood pounding in my head I could see her lips moving But couldn't tell what she said Then she pulled her hand away And I could hear her pleading She was begging for my help With her hollow eyes bleeding She wanted me to find her To set her spirit free But where was I to look And where to find that tree I could see her desperation But didn't know what to say Then heard her sadly groan As her shadow slipped away I lay there feeling helpless With no inspiration Unable to determine Her body's last location Now the clock is ticking down Till I'm paralyzed with fright This nightmare plays again At twelve tomorrow night
