A Time Past - Story Poem
In a time past there was a little girl, and though quite sad she liked to swirl and twirl; she lived with Grandma in an attic room, it was pretty but she was full of gloom. Mom was sick because she was very sad, and the place where Dad was dwelling was bad; you see my sister had tragically died, I felt so alone and each day I cried. Gran and Gramps had this really awesome farm, there were horses, chickens, pigs, lambs and charm; I helped pick vegetables and collect eggs, sometimes, the eggs hatched wings, eyes, beaks and legs. Gramps promised me I could have my own horse, if I proved- I could care for it, of course; I went to school on a big yellow bus, and at supper, the day we would discuss. The days passed and my sadness was going, because Gran and Gramp's love kept me glowing; Gran held me to her heart ... you leave today, grief rushed back and I wished to run away. I hid in the barn petting a cat nice, loved her lots, though she had a job killing mice; Mom found me and said- have bought a new home, its big and old with lots of rooms to roam. Oh, your room has a flower garden view, we brought all your dolls, teddies and toys too; well, I said- guess I could give it a try, goodbyes to Gran and Gramps made us all cry. I loved our home, it was old and big, in a huge garden Mom and I would dig; Dad made me stuff, chairs and a tea table, it had a workshop huge as a stable. Gran gave me some real tea cups for tea time. a teapot for tea parties anytime; I was happy, a beloved little girl, who again liked to jump, leap, twirl and whirl.
