By such a definition, there is absolutely nothing divine about the human soul. If we were already divine and equipped with a divine nature, why would we need God's grace, forgiveness, and righteousness? The two words (Divine Souls) should not be caught in the same sentence. There is no divine spark within any of us, waiting to be ignited. If our souls are indeed divine, then Christ's death was of no value. We get excited at the thought of it, but it just isn't so. We want to believe that we are intrinsically good, but it just isn't so. Satan, Adam, and Eve put out any possible hope of such a spark. We are born in sin and shaped in iniquity, separated from God. God is the source of divineness, and we are disconnected from Him. Religion says otherwise, but God and the Bible say that We are lost, and Christ alone imparts righteousness upon us via the cross. Long before there was a human soul, there was a creature(lucifer) whose quest was to become divine. In his own words, he said, “I will ascend to the heavens; I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly, on the utmost heights of Mount Zaphon.[a] I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.” Isaiah 14:13-15. However, Lucifer failed in his feeble attempt like any others after him who should be so arrogant as to aspire to such a realm.
