Father'sday
FATHER’S DAY Hurrah! Here comes the third Sunday of June Time for fathers to set their moods in tune To welcome their children on “Father’s Day” And celebrate the occasion in a special way. We fondly look back to the days of yore Waiting expectedly till we could wait no more The cries of a new-born baby entered our ears Bringing raptures of joy and a few cheers. The soft cries magnified as the years rolled by Demands became persuasive and tempers high Refusal was intolerant while aspirations grew At times we were left with no clues about what to do. Decades have passed and they are well settled in life They are free to live as they like and settle their strife We are just spectators watching from the gallery stands When a goal is scored, we appreciate clapping our hands. At night we look up at the myriads of shining stars And wonder which one we can call to be like ours So was it many years ago, when our lives began So is it now, many decades later as an old man As our wheel of life in this planet comes to an end Scriptures say it starts anew in another blend. We retrospect the miles, as a child we ran I quote Wordsworth, “Child is the father of man”.
