Lipstick Remedy
Her red lipstick May feel good For a moment On your skin The way It blends in perfectly With your tattoos But I blur Her memory When My lips Leave bruises On your neck While I feel The vibration Of your pulse screaming Underneath my fingertips Did she ever Make it a habit? Mediating with How your voice cracked When you said “good morning”? What about ditching Her responsibilities To pull the blanket Called your arms around her? Hoping the wonderful Heavy ache Of butterflies in her chest Didn’t dissipate Like the smoke clouds That left your body Would she ever reminiscence On the moment She stopped Guarding her heart? The moment She finally Let you undress Each layer? Exposing Each flaw Every mistake The regret she swallowed For years From dragging your heart Across the glass covered concrete But as she Held it That one summer In your backyard You became Unclothed too Yet unbothered By the surrounding street lights Your pupils Began to drown As she pulled Each shard out gently The sting Was comforted Though By her touch Almost as if It depleted All the toxins In your body Decomposing Unpleasant memories Old heartache Harboring demons But did you let her Restart Your system With her in mind? The pinky promises The lighthearted name calling The dancing in your flannel At 3am? Or did you picture someone else? Because you hide The bruises On your neck While showing off red lipstick stains
