She Was Free
She stood upon her weary raft Oar in her hand dipped in dark bath With every row she rippled suds Within the shadows deep as bloods Crushing lilies glazed with mud Scraping roots and pounding thuds On muddy fronds, on fallen logs Colors drained by tyrant fog The moon was new, completely hidden Concealed with leaves, the stars forbidden And the air was nothing, a blackened ink It smelled of death, a sulfur stink When she grew tired, deprived of might She settled down and prepared to write From underneath her pitch black sleeve Slid out a golden glowing beam She penned a page with gentle flicks The page burned up like candle wicks The mud and wilted roots dissolved Water shimmered from the rays above Endless pages could not describe What her twinkling eyes imbibed How curious, though… She held up her pen, Another wick burned And darkness again! She dipped her feet in the empty pool Still, relaxed, calm and cool She noticed spiders in their webs Sleepy tadpoles in mossy beds She heard the life of owl’s hoots Bats crunching their sweet vibrant fruits Maybe most would be displeased But as she heard the rustling leaves She realized it only had one wrong It was her—! She must learn to get along! “I shouldn’t force it to suit me” She said and commenced her journey ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Then, she grew drowsy and rubbed her eyes Lowering beside the sleeping tide Her hair was brushed with magic breeze Her eyes were softly veiled with leaves The wind rocked her to gentle sleep Finally lost, she was free~
