Planet In Peril
Our beloved Planet lies in peril... The Lords of Passion would decree. The weather's getting warmer As any fool can plainly see. But I hate to burst your bubble As Mother Nature takes her course. We be but a temporary infestation That for the moment sallies forth. The ice caps will lose their flavor As they've done many times before. Greenland will shed her icy shroud As crops ripen near her shores. Planetary change is ever constant And the seas will rise again. Permafrost will unleash its carbon treasures With her indifference to proclaim. Yes... the Planet's been much warmer As Romans and Vikings will attest. So belay your passions and prostrations And give your soul a rest. I will gladly join with my community As there is much we must affront. But as to the control of Mother Nature... That's a dog that will not hunt. Your desire to make this Planet Something it was never meant to be Where its moods cannot be purchased And cares not a fig for you or me. So put aside your hubris and naivety... With sweet ignorance to forsake. As whether we perish by fire or ice... It's Nature's call to make. The End * Obviously written from a secular position.
