Here are some things that I’ve learned, Through heartbreak and through strife Words can pierce the strongest heart More effective than a knife. Words that are left unspoken Can protect or they can bruise, But a heart that’s worn upon your sleeve Is easy to abuse. Some may want to hurt you They feed off your tears If living is the best revenge I’ll stay alive for years. Don’t be afraid of the darkness Don’t be afraid of pain The ones who try to hurt us Will be trying but in vain Life is meant for living It’s shorter than you think It won’t be long till you’ll be with me Standing on the brink.
